Please help old dog reconnect w/ owner overseas

Please help Bear reconnect with me (owner)from U.S. to Germany. He's large and appx.8 years old & the sweetest dog in the world! I rescued him 6 years ago from the animal shelter right before he was put down. He loves everyone he meets-even strangers! Bear is large for a Shepard-mix but I call him a gentle giant. He's alpha-male so sometimes he may be agressive if he gets too close to other dogs/cats-that won't be an issue since he'll be in a crate. He has low energy & is well disciplined (no chewing, barking, etc.)A friend is babysitting him me now in Toledo but only for a few more weeks! She is able to drive him to Detroit airport or surrounding areas for pick up! I can also pick him up at the Munich airport. Home pick up/delivery is NOT required. I'm desperate to reconnect with him asap-I decided to live in the EU recently and don't want to let old Bear go. I don't have enough money to ship him as Delta cargo (they want appx. $2,500!!) so I'm trying every option I can to find a way to get him here. He is up to date with all shots, vacs. etc. & in good health. He has mild arthritis which is usually not an issue during the summer. Please help Bear! I will be forever thankful.
