It is IMPERATIVE that Roscoe be tied down while inside a moving vehicle with a leash or rope tied securely at one end to an anchor point inside the vehicle, such as an eyebolt, and the other end attached to the ring on his harness. I would leave the leash always attached to the harness ring, along with the rope, so you always have the leash at hand whenever the rope is removed. If the driver should have to stop suddenly or slam on the brakes for any reason, anything (including an animal) not secured inside the vehicle will become a missile, & suffer often irrecoverable injuries. NEVER invite him to exit the vehicle inless you already have the leash in hand. It is also imperative that the driver have control of the dog by holding the leash securely any time he isn't tied in or is outside the vehicle. A loose Bloodhound will pick up numerous scents & should he decide to follow one, he will not respond to commands & will be gone in a heartbeat. Once on a scent, NOTHING can distract him. Nobody will be able to catch him. So you need to have a secure hold on the dog at all times. Altho he's not trained for tracking or mantrailing, it's in their blood. ANY & all Bloodhounds will do it.
