The railcar is a historic heavyweight pullman vehicle that has weight of 195,000lbs. The body of the vehicle can be separated from its trucks (two off) which together weigh 50,000lbs.
The car cannot be moved on its own wheels due to lack of use and damage so movement by rail on its own wheels is not possible.
Currently the car is located in a museum in Galveston, Texas and would have to be moved to land in West Virginia.

The car bodies will need to be lifted off of the wheels/trucks and placed on a trailer. Possibly flipping them upside down would be easier. These are going to the Houston, TX port.
Height from top of car to bottom of discharge gates is approx 11ft 1in (not including wheels).

Railway tie tamper, machine and light buggies. Equipment will be loaded by a crane service at Tulelake, California. Unloading will also be by crane service at Cedar City, Utah. End destination is 20 miles west of Cedar City.
Also, if trailer space permits, there are several railroad freight car wheelsets (wheel/axle/bearing)that accompany the tamping machine.

Transport of Boxcar and its two sets of wheels from site on Route 100 in Palmyra, Maine to railbed next to Train Depot on Route 1 in Machias, Maine. Porch and other items will be removed from surrounding area. Pickup is easily accessible, boxcar was formerly used as law office located on side of state road. Delivery site also very accessible, on route one to existing railbed tracks. unsure of exact weight. Thank you for your consideration of this shipment!

a) Cars are cut down and IF two cars can be loaded, one on top of the other, thus using 2 trailers, we can cut the cars down even further making true "flat cars". If you use 3 trailers, we will probably just keep them the same height. We are referring to the cars in the CENTER of the photo that have the roofs removed.
b) If 2 or 3 trucks are used, they must be there for loading on the same day. We will have a crane loading the cars.
c) A standard flat trailer can probably be used, given that these cars are cut down.
d) We are planning on strapping the trucks to the cars and loading/unloading in one crane action.
e) We are a small, poor museum. If you see anyway to cut costs, we are all for it. Timing is pickup sensitive, but NOT delivery sensitive.
f) WE will arrange crane service at loading and unloading. Don't really need assistance unless you want to quote it.
